The Punjab School Education Department has introduced a new dress code for teachers, following a similar policy implemented in Sindh.
According to a notification, male teachers in government schools are prohibited from wearing jeans and T-shirts. Female teachers and students are also advised against wearing excessive makeup, high heels, or expensive jewelry. Furthermore, female teachers are required to wear shalwar kameez with dupattas or hijabs.

The new dress code aims to ensure that teachers’ attire aligns with professional standards and cultural values. The department has stated that strict action will be taken against those who fail to adhere to these guidelines.
Private schools have also been instructed to implement the dress code for their staff. This move is part of broader efforts to maintain discipline and respect for cultural norms within educational institutions.
