US Calls for Peaceful Dialogue Between India and Pakistan After Pahalgam Attack

The United States has called on India and Pakistan to work towards a “responsible solution” amid rising tensions following a deadly attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the U.S. State Department, Washington has engaged in communication with both New Delhi and Islamabad and is keeping a close watch on the unfolding situation.

“This situation is continuing to develop, and we are monitoring it carefully. We have maintained contact with both the Indian and Pakistani governments at various levels,” a State Department spokesperson informed Reuters via email.

The spokesperson further emphasized, “The United States encourages all involved parties to collaborate towards a responsible and peaceful resolution.”

In the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack, India, without providing evidence, blamed Pakistan, leading to a series of strong measures, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and the adoption of other retaliatory actions.

In response, Pakistan halted all trade activities with India, shut its airspace to Indian flights, and declared Indian diplomats in Islamabad as persona non grata.

Taking a diplomatic approach, Pakistan proposed an independent international investigation into the incident and reached out to foreign ministers around the world to provide updates and explain its position.

China Stands with Pakistan

Meanwhile, the Chinese Foreign Ministry released a statement voicing strong support for Pakistan following the Pahalgam tragedy.

China conveyed its understanding of Pakistan’s legitimate security concerns and expressed firm support for Islamabad’s efforts to protect its sovereignty and security.

Beijing also backed the call for a fair and timely investigation into the Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists in occupied Kashmir four days earlier.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry stressed the necessity of impartiality in the investigation and urged both India and Pakistan to show restraint and resolve their disputes through dialogue.
