GTA 6 Poised To Shatter Records With Historic Development Cost

Rockstar Games is once again making headlines with its upcoming release, Grand Theft Auto 6, which is rumoured to be the most expensive video game ever developed. Leaked reports suggest that the game’s total cost could soar to an astonishing $2 billion, eclipsing the $1.5 billion spent on constructing the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper.

Unlike the six years it took to complete the Burj Khalifa, GTA 6 has reportedly been under development for over 13 years. The massive budget—revealed through a hacker leak—allegedly includes everything from game development and worldwide marketing to future content expansions. While Rockstar Games has not officially verified the figure, industry experts suggest it is likely accurate.

The high price tag stems from Rockstar’s ambitious plans for GTA 6, which is rumoured to feature an enormous hyper-realistic open world, sophisticated AI-driven characters, cinematic graphics, and a deeply immersive storyline. These elements are expected to push the boundaries of gaming even further.

With the game likely to launch at a price point of around $100, analysts predict GTA 6 could recoup its entire production cost within a day of release, potentially surpassing the sales success of GTA 5, which made $1 billion in its first three days. Rockstar appears set to cement its legacy with what could be its most groundbreaking title to date.
