Earthquake Shakes Quetta and Surrounding Areas in Balochistan

Strong earthquake tremors shook Quetta and its surrounding areas on Monday afternoon, creating panic among residents, although no casualties or property damage have been reported as of now.

The National Seismological Centre stated that the earthquake registered a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter scale. It occurred at a depth of 21 kilometers, with its epicenter located about 125 kilometers northwest of Quetta.

Emergency response teams have been put on high alert, but there have been no immediate reports of structural damage or injuries.

A spokesperson for the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said, “Currently, there are no reports of fatalities or infrastructure damage, but we are keeping a close watch on the situation.”

Authorities have advised the public to stay calm and contact the designated helpline for any emergencies. Rescue teams and local officials have been deployed to evaluate any potential effects in remote areas.
