PM Shehbaz Attends Defamation Case Hearing Against Imran Khan via Video Link

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appeared via video link on Saturday before the Sessions Court in Lahore during the hearing of his Rs10 billion defamation case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

The session, overseen by Additional Sessions Judge Yilmaz Ghani, saw the prime minister taking an oath virtually. Shehbaz Sharif declared, “I will speak the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth,” while also reciting the religious part of the oath, stating that any concealment of facts would earn Allah’s displeasure.

During the cross-examination, Imran Khan’s lawyer, Advocate Muhammad Hussain Chotya, inquired whether the PM had a copy of the defamation suit with him. Shehbaz responded that he did not currently possess it. He then requested a brief pause, explaining that his legal team was sending over the document. The court subsequently granted a short break.

This legal action stems from PM Shehbaz’s Rs10 billion defamation claim, accusing Imran Khan of making baseless and damaging allegations. Advocate Chotya continued the cross-examination on behalf of the PTI founder.
