On Saturday, a powerful bomb detonated near a reproductive health clinic in Palm Springs, California, resulting in one death and injuring at least four others. The FBI has classified the incident as a deliberate act of terrorism. Akil Davis, Assistant Director of the FBI’s Los Angeles office, stated that a person of interest has been identified, and no active search for suspects is ongoing, though no further details have been released.
The explosion happened just before 11 a.m. outside the American Reproductive Centres (ARC) clinic, causing extensive damage. The victim was found near a vehicle that was destroyed in the blast, which, according to Palm Springs Mayor Ron deHarte, was likely placed in or near the parked vehicle. The blast created a large hole in the clinic’s building and damaged nearby structures.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has been informed of the situation, with emergency teams still managing the aftermath. ARC, which offers services such as in vitro fertilization, genetic testing, and egg donation across multiple locations in California, confirmed that despite the damage, the Palm Springs clinic would reopen fully by Monday. The clinic’s laboratory and reproductive materials were unharmed, and all staff members are safe.
Dr. Maher Abdallah, the clinic’s director, conveyed determination on Facebook, stating, “This event has shaken us, but it will not stop us.”
