Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani has taken strict disciplinary action by dismissing 17 police officers over their suspected involvement with drug dealers. This move follows an internal investigation that exposed the support these officers allegedly provided to narcotics networks operating in the city.
The dismissed personnel include one sub-inspector, four assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), four head constables, and eight constables.

Notably, among those removed is former SHO Sub-Inspector Anwarul Haq. Other officers let go include ASIs Imran Khalid, Umar, Nadeem, and Shakoor, along with Head Constables Zarif, Anis, Naseer, and Constables Sami and Imtiaz.
CPO Hamdani stated that the action was a result of a detailed probe conducted under the Punjab Policeโs accountability framework. He emphasized that the crackdown was in line with directives from the Punjab Chief Minister, aimed at eliminating narcotics from society. The CPO warned that any police official found aiding drug traffickers will face severe legal action.
He further mentioned that the public has responded positively to these measures and revealed that more than 500 drug traffickers in Rawalpindi have already been sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison by the courts.
