A devastating airstrike in Khan Younis, Gaza, left Dr. Hamdi Al-Najjar’s family shattered after nine of his ten children were killed over the weekend. Dr. Al-Najjar, who was at home with his children during the Israeli military strike, is now in intensive care at Nasser Hospital, fighting for his life after undergoing multiple surgeries.
Medical staff report that Dr. Al-Najjar sustained severe injuries to his brain, lungs, arm, and kidney. Despite the grim situation, his surviving son Adam remains in serious but stable condition. Dr. Hamdi’s wife, Alaa, also a doctor, was away treating injured Palestinians at the same hospital during the attack.

The Israeli military confirmed the airstrike on Khan Younis, stating it targeted suspected militants near Israeli forces but acknowledged civilian casualties are under investigation. Meanwhile, Gaza’s health officials say the attack killed nine children between the ages of one and twelve, and have shared harrowing footage of their recovery from the rubble.
The strike is part of the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where over 53,000 Palestinians have died since the war began in October 2023, with thousands more displaced. International courts are currently investigating alleged war crimes linked to the conflict, amid calls for accountability and justice.
