Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir recently met with Saima Saleem, a visually impaired diplomat representing Pakistan at the United Nations, and praised her for her exceptional service in the field of international diplomacy.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday, the meeting took place at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and was characterized by mutual respect and admiration.

The Army Chief commended Saima’s accomplishments, highlighting her determination, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to representing Pakistan on global platforms despite her visual impairment.
“Saima Saleem is not just a role model for people with disabilities, but a source of inspiration for the entire nation,” said Field Marshal Munir. He also reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s dedication to empowering individuals with disabilities, ensuring they can contribute meaningfully to national progress.
During their meeting, Saima Saleem briefed the COAS on her work at the United Nations, focusing on the pressing challenges faced by Pakistan. She particularly emphasized the ongoing threat of state-sponsored terrorism, pointing to India as a significant contributor to regional instability.
The Army Chief acknowledged her efforts in effectively presenting Pakistan’s viewpoint on international platforms and praised her commitment to protecting national interests through skilled diplomacy.
He noted that her presence and work at the UN exemplify the extraordinary potential within Pakistan’s population, regardless of physical limitations.
ISPR also mentioned that Saima Saleem shared some of her literary creations with the COAS during the meeting, underscoring her diverse talents beyond diplomacy.
