Iran Launches Surprise Missile Strike on Israel in Response to US Airstrikes

Iran launched a series of missile strikes targeting Israel, setting off widespread air raid sirens and explosions in several key cities, including Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Jerusalem, according to Israeli military and media outlets.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) reported that over 10 missiles were fired during the initial wave, damaging buildings across multiple areas.

Local news outlets confirmed loud explosions in Tel Aviv and Haifa, while additional attacks were anticipated as Israeli defense systems scrambled to intercept the incoming missiles.

In a statement, the IDF revealed that another round of Iranian missiles was detected heading toward Israel and advised citizens not to share videos or reveal impact site locations online due to security concerns.

Sirens were heard throughout the country, including in the capital city, Jerusalem, signaling a sharp rise in hostilities after weeks of heightened tensions between Iran and Israel.

Blasts were also recorded in central Israel, prompting the deployment of emergency response and civil defense teams. Although the full scope of casualties and structural damage remains uncertain, Israeli media confirmed that numerous buildings had been hit.

Jordan, a neighboring country, activated air raid sirens across all its provinces as a precautionary measure. While no missiles struck Jordanian territory, authorities there are keeping a close watch on the situation.

This incident marks the first time in years that Iran has openly fired missiles directly at Israel, moving from indirect conflicts and proxy warfare to overt aggression. The escalation is expected to draw strong international condemnation and could trigger a significant Israeli retaliation.
