Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has announced his party’s support for the federal budget 2025–26 after the government addressed key concerns raised by PPP leadership. Speaking in the National Assembly on Monday, Bilawal acknowledged positive steps taken by the government and praised efforts to stabilize the economy.
Bilawal highlighted a notable reduction in inflation and expressed appreciation for the government’s decision to impose zero tax on annual incomes up to one million rupees — calling it a “historic relief” for the salaried class. He extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb for incorporating measures that reflect a balanced focus on national defense and poverty alleviation.

Recalling the PPP’s previous tenure, Bilawal noted that government employees had seen significant salary increases during that time. While he welcomed the current 10% raise in salaries and pensions, he said the PPP had pushed for a more substantial increment and hoped for broader consultation in future budgets.
The PPP chairman also reiterated his party’s long-standing demand for allocating 30% of Punjab’s development budget to South Punjab. He stressed that regions like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, which are on the frontlines of the anti-terrorism fight, need greater investment and federal support.
