Rain Expected to Bring Relief in Sindh After Extreme Heatwave Conditions

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light to moderate Rain in parts of Sindh on June 1. The weather system may also bring thunderstorms and dust storms in isolated areas.

The expected Rain is likely to provide relief after several days of extreme heat across the province. However, hot and dry conditions are still expected to persist in most districts.

According to the PMD, thunderstorms triggered by westerly winds may develop in several areas. These include Qambar Shahdadkot, Dadu, Mirpurkhas, and Tharparkar. These regions may experience brief spells of Rain along with strong winds.

Despite the forecast, the department warned that heatwave conditions will continue in most parts of Sindh until Saturday. High temperatures are expected to remain dangerous in many districts.

The PMD said maximum temperatures in several areas, including Jacobabad, Kashmore, Khairpur, and Dadu, may reach between 47ยฐC and 50ยฐC. In some southern and central districts, temperatures will remain slightly lower but still very high.

In Tharparkar, Badin, Hyderabad, and nearby districts, temperatures are expected to stay between 44ยฐC and 47ยฐC. Residents are advised to stay cautious due to ongoing heat stress.

Karachi will also remain hot and humid over the next few days. Temperatures are expected to range between 35ยฐC and 37ยฐC. Humidity levels may stay high, making conditions uncomfortable even without Rain.

The PMD added that morning humidity in Karachi may reach around 80 percent. Evening humidity is expected to stay near 70 percent. Southwesterly sea breezes will continue to blow across the city.

On Thursday, Dadu recorded an extreme temperature of 51.5ยฐC. This broke a decade-old heat record. It highlights the intensity of the ongoing heatwave before the expected Rain system arrives.

Larkana and Jacobabad also recorded temperatures above 50ยฐC. These extreme readings show the severity of the weather conditions across upper Sindh.

Meteorologists say even light Rain could temporarily reduce temperatures and improve weather conditions. However, the relief may be short-lived as heatwave patterns are expected to continue.
