The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has sounded a high alert in view of a powerful monsoon spell forecasted to begin from July 5. This marks the second intense phase of the monsoon season, with particularly heavy rainfall expected on Youm-e-Ashura.
To minimize disruptions during religious observances, the PDMA has developed a comprehensive response plan. Special emphasis is being placed on managing the impact of rain on Ashura processions, which draw large crowds across the province.

Drainage and water disposal systems along the main procession routes have been activated in advance to prevent waterlogging. Authorities are working to ensure roads remain accessible and safe for participants.
Furthermore, special monitoring desks have been set up in control rooms to maintain real-time oversight and ensure swift coordination with local departments. Citizens are advised to stay alert and follow official updates as the monsoon spell unfolds.
