West Indies Batting Failure Puts Australia in Control on 15-Wicket Day

The second day of the Australia vs West Indies Test match at Sabina Park delivered high drama as 15 wickets fell in quick succession. Australia ended the day at 99 for 6 in their second innings, leading by 181 runs after bowling out West Indies for just 143 earlier in the day.

Australia started the day with an 82-run first-innings lead. Scott Boland, replacing Nathan Lyon, claimed three wickets, while Cummins and Hazlewood shared the rest. West Indies collapsed from 124 for 5 to 143 all out, giving Australia a solid advantage. However, the evening session saw the hosts strike back with fierce pace bowling under the lights.

The turning point in the Australia vs West Indies match came when West Indies took the second new ball. Shamar Joseph dismissed Sam Konstas for a duck, ending a disappointing series for the young batter. Usman Khawaja, despite a patient approach, inside-edged a delivery from Shamar onto his stumps.

Alzarri Joseph bowled with serious pace, touching 147kph, and produced the fastest over of the series. He removed Steve Smith after an edgy stay, and then dismissed Beau Webster and Alex Carey in quick succession. Carey had just recovered from a nasty blow to the helmet before falling to a poor stroke.

Cameron Green provided stability with a composed 42* and was lucky to survive a run-out chance earlier in the innings. He and Travis Head tried to steady the innings, but Head fell to a sharp catch in the slips off Greaves.

Earlier in the day, West Indies’ batters showed promise. Brandon King and John Campbell started solidly before poor shot selection and tight bowling saw them lose key wickets. A controversial moment arose when Campbell was nearly run out, but the appeal was not reviewed.

As the Australia vs West Indies Test enters its third day, Australia holds the edge, but the match remains open due to the conditions and unpredictable batting collapses. With West Indies showing fight, another thrilling day of Test cricket is expected.
