Fawad Khan and Bilal Maqsood Join Panel as Pakistan Idol Reboot Gears Up for Return

Fawad Khan, Bilal Maqsood Join Pakistan Idol 2025

After more than a decade, Pakistan Idol is making a comeback with a new panel of judges. Confirmed to lead the show are acclaimed actors and musicians Fawad Khan and Bilal Maqsood. They will be joined by renowned artists Zeb Bangash and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

The singing competition first aired from December 2013 to April 2014 on Geo Entertainment. It was the 50th international version of the British Idol franchise and quickly became a fan favorite. The first season ended with a dramatic finale that received over a million public votes. Zamad Baig was crowned the winner.

The reboot is a collaboration between MHL Global and Fremantle, the company that holds the global rights to the Idol brand. MHL Director Zoya Merchant highlighted the potential of the local music scene, saying the show will provide a platform for Pakistan’s rich talent to shine globally.

In a unique move, the upcoming season of Pakistan Idol will air across five major television networks simultaneously. This multi-channel broadcast strategy aims to reach viewers from various regions and backgrounds across the country. It’s the first time such a method has been used in any version of the Idol franchise.

Auditions have already started online through the Begin platform. Later, in-person auditions will be held in both urban centers and remote areas. The goal is to find a wide range of contestants representing Pakistan’s diverse cultures and voices.

Production is expected to begin soon, though no exact air date has been announced. The return of the series and the inclusion of popular names like Fawad Khan and Bilal Maqsood as Pakistan Idol judges have already sparked excitement on social media and in entertainment circles.
