Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) announced SSGC Announces Gas Supply Schedule for August 14 today. The company had planned a 14-hour gas suspension. It was scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in Karachi’s SITE area. The pause was to allow pipeline relocation.
However, SSGC issued a new update. The company now says there will be no gas suspension on August 14. The earlier shutdown notice is now cancelled.
SSGC had originally planned to shift a six-inch main pipeline at Haroonabad. The work was to support the city’s Water Board restoration program.
The planned suspension would have affected both residential and industrial localities. Areas named included Sher Shah, Site, Jehanabad, Mianwali Colony, Lashari Mohalla, Metroville, Bawani Chali, Pathan Colony, Old Golimar, Raxer Colony, Hassan Aulia, Muslimabad, and Habib Bank. Industrial zones in SITE, Haroonabad, Gulbai, Mauripur, Tikri Village, Muslim Colony, Javed Bahria, and Manora were also included.
SSGC had requested that consumers make alternate fuel arrangements. The utility expressed regret for any inconvenience.
With the cancellation now confirmed, residents and businesses in those areas can expect normal gas supply on Independence Day. SSGC’s spokesperson clarified that the pipeline relocation has been postponed.
In short, SSGC Announces Gas Supply Schedule for August 14 first indicated a major outage. Now, the plan is called off. Customers in affected neighborhoods can rely on uninterrupted gas service.
