Gianluigi Donnarumma is set to leave Paris Saint-Germain. The Italian goalkeeper was recently dropped from the squad, and all signs now point to leaving PSG before the transfer window closes.
Donnarumma was left out of PSG’s lineup for the UEFA Super Cup. That raised immediate questions. After the match, he confirmed that “someone has decided I can no longer be part of the group.” His statement made it clear — he is no longer in PSG’s plans.
PSG recently signed 22-year-old Lucas Chevalier from Lille. Chevalier started in goal during the Super Cup, showing the club’s shift towards a new long-term option. Donnarumma was again left out of the squad for PSG’s next Ligue 1 match.
Reports suggest PSG are open to selling Donnarumma for around £34 million. His agent is already in contact with several European clubs. Premier League sides, including Manchester United and Chelsea, are keeping an eye on the situation.
Donnarumma joined PSG in 2021 as a free agent after leaving AC Milan. He was Italy’s hero at Euro 2020 and won the Player of the Tournament award. But at PSG, his time has been mixed. Fans and pundits have often questioned his performances, especially in big matches.
Now, with Chevalier taking over, Donnarumma leaving PSG seems certain. The club is focused on building a younger, more stable squad.
At 26, Donnarumma still has many years ahead. His next club will hope to bring back the form he showed with Italy and Milan.
For now, no official transfer has been announced. But it’s only a matter of time before we hear where he’s headed.
