Devon Walker shocked fans on Monday after revealing his decision to leave Saturday Night Live (SNL).
The 34-year-old comedian shared the announcement on August 25 through Instagram, where he reflected on his three-year journey with the NBC sketch comedy show. In his post, Devon Walker described the experience as both rewarding and challenging, admitting that โsometimes it was toxic as hell.โ
He compared his time on SNL to a relationship, writing, โJobs in this industry feel like a bunch of little marriages. Some last long, most are fleeting. Permanent until theyโre not. Thatโs the deal.โ
Walker acknowledged the highs and lows of his time on the show, saying, โSometimes it was really cool. Sometimes it was toxic. But we made the most of it, even in the dysfunction. We made a family.โ
The Texas-born comedian also expressed gratitude for working alongside close friends Gary and Alex, highlighting how their careers grew together from small comedy shows to the SNL stage.
In a lighter moment, he joked about his appearance in the photo he shared, saying he looked โcaked upโ and wanted fans to notice.
Closing his message, Walker revealed his next move: traveling to Japan before pursuing new acting opportunities. โWhen I get back, Iโm trying to be in a prestige drama. Ideally something with Julianne Moore,โ he wrote.
Devon Walker first joined Saturday Night Live in 2022 as a featured player before being promoted to the main cast. His departure marks the end of a chapter, but fans are eager to see what he does next in his career.
