The Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) hosted former Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal (R) Sohail Aman, at its Thought Leaders Forum (TLF) on Wednesday. The session, titled โMarka-e-Haq and Beyond,โ highlighted Pakistanโs successful defense strategy and evolving military capabilities.
Director General ISSI Ambassador Sohail Mahmood said Marka-e-Haq was a clear example of Pakistanโs united defense against Indian aggression. He noted that the entire nation, along with the armed forces, stood firm in defending sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He explained that Pakistan prevailed across diplomatic, military, and informational fronts. The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) played a central role in what is described as one of the largest air battles in history, downing multiple Indian fighter jets. According to Ambassador Mahmood, the technologically advanced PAF outperformed India by demonstrating superior air power, precision strikes, cyber disruption, and effective drone use under Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos.
Air Chief Marshal (R) Sohail Aman, in his address, emphasized that Pakistanโs response was a decisive shift towards multi-domain warfare. He stressed that Indiaโs miscalculation โ believing Pakistan would not respond โ was firmly rejected through Pakistanโs strong military action. He further highlighted that the technologically advanced PAF outperformed a numerically larger Indian force, proving its operational superiority.
Sohail Aman also rejected Indiaโs claims of confronting a joint China-Pakistan force, calling it a face-saving attempt. He warned that while nuclear deterrence held during the crisis, Indiaโs belief in a limited conventional war under the nuclear threshold remains dangerous.
The event concluded with a question-and-answer session where participants discussed regional stability, deterrence, and future challenges. Experts agreed that Pakistan must maintain vigilance, modernization, and proactive diplomacy to ensure peace in South Asia.
The forum highlighted that Pakistanโs military, with strong political support and public backing, successfully countered aggression and restored balance in the region. The session reinforced that the technologically advanced PAF outperformed its rival, setting a new precedent in regional defense strategy.
