The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted partly cloudy and humid weather for Karachi over the next 24 hours. Light rain or drizzle may occur in the morning and at night, according to the forecast issued on Friday.
The department reported that the maximum temperature in the city is expected to stay between 31Β°C and 33Β°C. The minimum temperature recorded was 28Β°C, with humidity levels at 78%. Sea breezes from the southwest are blowing at around 15 kilometers per hour.
The PMD also warned that temperatures in Karachi could rise slightly over the next three days. The maximum is likely to remain between 32Β°C and 34Β°C, while humid conditions persist.
Meanwhile, other parts of Sindh are also expected to remain hot and humid. In Balochistan, most districts reported clear and dry weather, though some areas such as Zhob and Musakhel could see rainfall today. The coastal belt of the province is expected to remain partly cloudy.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has already issued a rain alert for several parts of the country. It has cautioned that Karachi could face possible urban flooding between August 30 and September 2. Other districts, including Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, and Tharparkar, are also expected to receive heavy rainfall during this period.
Hyderabad, Dadu, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Kashmore may experience downpours between August 30 and September 1, the NDMA added.
Earlier this month, heavy rain brought life in Karachi to a halt, causing severe disruption in the coastal megacity of more than 20 million people. At least 10 people lost their lives, many from electrocution or roof collapses.
Across Pakistan, this yearβs monsoon has already proven deadly, with floods and landslides killing more than 800 people since June.
