Dr Nabiha Ali Khan, a well-known Pakistani clinical psychologist and media personality, has been served a notice to vacate her rented house in Park View Housing Society, Lahore. The notice comes just days after she expressed concerns over floodwater entering the society.
According to reports, the house owner asked Dr Nabiha to leave the property within one month. This development follows her viral video in which she highlighted the poor situation of her house after heavy flooding.
In the video, Dr Nabiha criticized the housing societyβs administration for its failure to manage the crisis. Streets in Park View Housing Society were heavily flooded after the Ravi River rose to dangerously high levels due to water released by India.
The issue has sparked debate on social media, with many expressing solidarity with Dr Nabiha for raising her voice on urban flooding and mismanagement. Her case has also drawn attention to the difficulties residents of private housing societies face during natural disasters.
Meanwhile, the Federal Flood Commission (FFC) has issued a fresh alert. It warned of an exceptionally high flood in several rivers, including Sutlej, Ravi, Beas, and Chenab, within the next 72 hours.
The FFC report noted that very high to exceptionally high water flows are expected in the Sutlej, Ravi, and Chenab rivers, along with the connected nullahs. Urban flooding is also likely in Lahore, Gujranwala, and Gujrat divisions during this period.
The river Sutlej at Ganda Singh Wala will continue to face exceptionally high flood levels. Authorities have urged residents in low-lying areas to remain cautious and follow safety advisories.
The notice to Dr Nabiha has raised questions about the treatment of individuals who speak out about administrative shortcomings, particularly during times of crisis.
