A District and Sessions Court in Islamabad has issued an arrest warrant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in connection with a liquor and arms recovery case. The court has directed authorities to ensure his appearance on September 17.
Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chishti issued the order after neither Gandapur nor his legal representatives attended Wednesdayβs hearing. The court instructed that he must be arrested and presented before the judge on the next date.
Soon after the order, Gandapurβs lawyer, Raja Zahoor-ul-Hassan, appeared and requested the suspension of the warrant. He argued that the widespread media coverage of the development had already caused harm to his clientβs reputation.
The court, however, dismissed the plea, stressing that the warrant would only be withdrawn once the chief minister appeared in person.
Case Background
The liquor and arms recovery case against Gandapur was registered at Islamabadβs Bhara Kahu police station. The case has remained pending for several months, with repeated directions for his presence in court.
On July 19, the same court had also issued an arrest warrant in this matter, highlighting the seriousness of the judicial orders. During the latest hearing, the magistrate observed that if any representative or junior lawyer had appeared to request a new date, the court might have considered it.
However, the complete absence of legal representation left the court with no choice but to issue the warrant.
The court has now fixed September 17, 2025, as the date for Gandapurβs appearance. Law enforcement authorities have been tasked with ensuring compliance and producing him at the next hearing.
