Derek Dixon, the man suing Tyler Perry for $260 million, has spoken publicly for the first time. The actor accuses Perry of sexual battery, assault, and retaliation. He also claims emotional distress and quid pro quo harassment during his time working on Perry’s productions, The Oval and Ruthless.
In a recent interview with ABC News, Dixon shared his reasons for speaking out. He said his goal is not only accountability but also to prevent such incidents from happening to other actors. According to him, justice would mean ensuring no one else in the industry faces similar treatment.
Dixon claims Perry created a “coercive, sexually exploitative dynamic” while he worked under him. He added that Perry used opportunities in the entertainment industry to pressure him into an inappropriate relationship. The alleged misconduct began in early 2020 when Dixon said Perry offered him roles shortly after the first incident. Dixon claims another episode happened in mid-2021 when he met Perry again to discuss a new project.
Perry’s legal team has strongly denied these accusations. His lawyer, Matthew Boyd, called the lawsuit a “scam” and insisted that Perry would not be shaken down. Boyd stated the claims were fabricated and would not hold up in court.
The lawsuit, filed earlier this year, continues to attract attention due to Perry’s status as one of Hollywood’s most influential figures. The case also highlights ongoing concerns about workplace harassment and abuse of power in the entertainment industry.
