A district and sessions court in Islamabad has sent Hassan Zahid to jail on judicial remand in the Samiya Hijab abduction case.
The suspect appeared before Judicial Magistrate Yasir Mahmood on Friday. Police requested a five-day physical remand for further questioning. The court, however, rejected the request and ordered Zahid to be placed in judicial custody.
This development follows the recent dismissal of Zahidβs bail plea in the same case. He is also facing two separate cases registered at Shalimar Police Station.
Samiya Hijab, a social media influencer with nearly 850,000 Instagram followers, has accused Zahid of harassment and threats. She alleged that he pressured her into marriage and repeatedly appeared near her home.
In a video message, Hijab described an incident where Zahid allegedly tried to abduct her. She claimed he snatched her mobile phone, forced her toward his car, and attempted to take her away. She said the incident happened when her mother was unwell, and her brother was not at home.
Hijab later appealed to Islamabad Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi for security. She also thanked the police for acting quickly on her complaint and registering her case.
The matter continues to draw public attention as it highlights growing concerns about harassment and womenβs safety in Pakistan. Zahidβs judicial remand means he will remain in jail while further legal proceedings move forward.
