PSX Surges Over 1,000 Points in Early Trade

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) began Tuesday’s session on a bullish note, with the benchmark KSE-100 index gaining more than 1,000 points within the first half hour of trade.

At 9:34 AM, the index was up 869 points at 156,253.58, with volumes of 7.04 million shares. Just nine minutes later, it advanced further, climbing 989 points to reach 156,373.72. By 9:49 AM, the index touched 156,417.69, up 1,033 points or 0.66 percent.

So far, the market has recorded a high of 156,454.97 and a low of 155,960.66, with total volumes exceeding 55 million shares. The strong rally continues the momentum from Monday, when the PSX closed higher by 944 points at 155,384.5.

The bullish sentiment is supported by one-year gains of nearly 97 percent in the KSE-100 index and a year-to-date rise of 35.87 percent. Analysts attribute the positive trend to improving economic signals and strong institutional participation.

In Tuesday’s session, several stocks stood out as top gainers. PACE rose 11.81 percent to Rs9.47, while DMC gained 10.01 percent to Rs58.47. ASLCPS, ASHT, and KHYT also advanced by 10 percent each. Other notable movers included UVIC, BAPL, and ANTM, which climbed close to 10 percent.

On the downside, MWMP dropped 10 percent to Rs95.77, followed by PIM, which lost 7.84 percent. SSML, POWERPS, and SARC were also among the key losers.

Within the KSE-100 index, PIBTL jumped 6.77 percent, NATF gained 5.03 percent, and PGLC rose 4.19 percent. Major names like MEBL, AGL, and HUBC also supported the upward trend. However, TRG, JDWS, and LCI recorded slight declines due to profit-taking.

The PSX remains broadly positive, reflecting investor confidence in blue-chip counters and high-volume stocks. Market experts believe the strong rally underscores both local and institutional support for equities despite global uncertainties.
