ISLAMABAD β Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has said that the world must move beyond condemnation of Israeli attacks and adopt a practical plan to halt the aggression.
In an interview with Arab media, Dar stressed that Israelβs strikes on Lebanon, Syria, and most recently Qatar, were unacceptable. He said these attacks violated international law and could trigger wider instability in the Middle East. βPakistan strongly condemns the strike on Qatar. It is an attack on the sovereignty of a brotherly country,β Dar stated.
Last week, Israel attempted to target Hamas political leaders with an airstrike in Qatar, raising regional tensions. The attack was widely criticized across the Muslim world.
Pakistan, along with Somalia, called for an emergency UN Security Council session. Dar welcomed Qatarβs decision to hold an Arab-Islamic summit in Doha, terming it a timely initiative.
He further highlighted that the people of Gaza were suffering immensely and urged the need for an unconditional ceasefire. According to him, Israelβs provocations showed that peace was not its intention. He added that Muslim unity was now essential to counter such aggression.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also denounced the Israeli strike, calling it reckless and provocative. He said it violated Qatarβs sovereignty and undermined regional peace efforts. The prime minister reaffirmed that Pakistan stood in full solidarity with Qatar and supported the formation of an Arab-Islamic task force.
Dar also emphasized Pakistanβs long-standing position of resolving conflicts through dialogue. He said the country had sacrificed greatly in the fight against terrorism and rejected Indiaβs accusations of supporting militancy.
Addressing regional issues, Dar warned that future wars could be fought over water. He reminded India that the Indus Waters Treaty could not be unilaterally revoked. βPakistan will consider any attempt to block water as a declaration of war,β he cautioned.
He reaffirmed that Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state, determined to safeguard its sovereignty. He also underlined that no one would be allowed to undermine Pakistanβs independence or integrity.
Earlier this year, tensions escalated after India accused Pakistan of involvement in an attack in Kashmir. The conflict saw cross-border strikes, drone incursions, and air combat before a ceasefire was brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Dar concluded by reiterating Pakistanβs commitment to peace but stressed that the country would stand firmly with the Muslim Ummah against any threats.
