RIYADH β Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for Riyadh on Wednesday for an official visit to Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The one-day trip aims to enhance bilateral relations and expand cooperation across multiple sectors.
The prime minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Environment Minister Mosaddiq Malik, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.
During his visit to Riyadh, PM Shehbaz Sharif will hold a bilateral meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Talks are expected to cover the full spectrum of PakistanβSaudi Arabia relations, including regional and global developments of mutual concern. The Foreign Office stated that the visit will formalize cooperation in diverse fields and deepen the historic partnership between the two nations.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share a relationship rooted in faith, values, and mutual trust. Since assuming office, PM Shehbaz has visited Saudi Arabia multiple times. In October 2024, both countries signed 34 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to strengthen commercial ties and private sector collaboration.
This year alone, the prime minister visited Riyadh twiceβfirst from March 19β22 focusing on trade, and again on June 5β6 during Eidul Adha.
Earlier this week, PM Shehbaz met Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha. The meeting highlighted Pakistanβs support for regional unity following Israeli airstrikes on Hamas leaders in Qatar. The crown prince praised Pakistanβs active role in demonstrating solidarity at the UN and other international forums.
After concluding his visit to Riyadh, PM Shehbaz Sharif will travel to the United Kingdom for a two-day engagement before proceeding to the United States as part of his ongoing foreign visits.
