ISLAMABAD/TASHKENT: Pakistan and Uzbekistan are discussing joint manufacturing of solar water heaters to provide affordable energy solutions and strengthen industrial cooperation.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production, Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, visited the Pharma Park and Techno Park in Tashkent to boost Pakistan-Uzbekistan collaboration in technology and industry.
During the visit, Mr. Khan praised the production of modern household and electronic appliances at the Uzbek Techno Park, calling it βhighly commendable.β He emphasized that joint manufacturing of solar water heaters could benefit both nations and support energy affordability for citizens.
The discussions also covered joint production of modern gas and electricity meters, further enhancing cooperation in the energy and technology sectors.
On the pharmaceutical front, Mr. Khan stressed the need to streamline licensing and certification for Pakistanβs pharma sector in Uzbekistan. He noted that strengthening the pharmaceutical industry would boost exports and help align production with global standards.
βBy fostering collaboration in technology and industry, Pakistan and Uzbekistan can take their bilateral relations to new heights,β Mr. Khan remarked.
The visit reflects Pakistanβs broader efforts to expand joint industrial and technological initiatives with regional partners. Experts say such cooperation could reduce costs, improve energy access, and strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
Separately, Pakistan is also pursuing joint economic and trade cooperation with Iran. The 22nd Session of the Pakistan-Iran Joint Economic Commission (JEC) concluded in Tehran on September 15-16, 2025. The session focused on expanding trade, investment, energy, agriculture, transport, housing, health, education, and cultural exchanges. Relevant protocols were signed by both countries to reinforce bilateral collaboration.
Analysts highlight that Pakistanβs engagement in joint ventures with regional neighbors demonstrates a strategic push to promote industrial growth, energy efficiency, and stronger economic relations across the region.
