Shock and Outrage as Camel Brutally Beaten by Influential Landlord in Sukkur

SUKKUR – A disturbing case of animal cruelty has been reported in Saleh Pat, Sukkur, where a camel was brutally tortured by a local landlord. The incident occurred after the camel entered the landlord’s agricultural field to drink water.

According to the camel’s owner, the landlord tied the animal to a tractor, dragged it across the field, and struck it with sticks. The camel suffered severe injuries, including a broken leg. When the owner attempted to take the camel to a hospital for treatment, doctors reportedly refused to provide medical assistance.

Following the incident, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice and instructed Mayor Sukkur to submit a detailed report. He also directed District Council Chairman Syed Kamil Shah to ensure immediate medical treatment for the injured camel. A veterinary team has been dispatched to the site to provide care.

Police confirmed that a case has been registered based on the camel owner’s complaint. Of the three suspects involved, one has been arrested, while raids are ongoing to apprehend the remaining two. Authorities have assured strict action against the perpetrators.

This is not the first case of such brutality in the region. Last year, in Sanghar, another influential landlord reportedly cut off a camel’s leg for entering farmland. Action in that case was initially delayed until public outcry and government intervention forced authorities to respond.

Animal rights activists have strongly condemned the latest incident in Sukkur. They are urging strict legal action to prevent future cases of animal cruelty. Activists emphasized that stronger laws and enforcement are necessary to protect animals from such inhumane treatment.

The Sukkur incident highlights ongoing challenges in ensuring animal welfare in rural Sindh. Authorities and activists alike stress the importance of prompt action and awareness to stop such cruel practices.
