Pakistan, Tajikistan Pledge Stronger Trade Ties During ICCI Visit

Pakistan and Tajikistan have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation, especially in trade and investment. The understanding was reached during the ICCI Visit of Tajikistan’s Ambassador Yusuf Sharifzoda to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI).

The ICCI Visit was aimed at congratulating Sardar Tahir Mehmood on his unopposed election as ICCI President. Ambassador Sharifzoda praised Pakistan as a land of opportunities, highlighting the hospitality of its people and vast economic potential. He invited ICCI leadership and members to attend the upcoming Dushanbe International Investment Forum 2025, scheduled for October 14-16. He said the forum would provide Pakistan’s business community a platform to showcase products and strengthen bilateral relations.

The envoy also emphasized opportunities for Pakistani medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, leather goods, and skilled workers, particularly in handicrafts, in Tajikistan. He assured that such exchanges could pave the way for mutually beneficial partnerships.

Welcoming the ambassador, ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mehmood expressed gratitude for the ICCI Visit and stressed transforming historic ties into strong trade and economic relations. He pointed to the CASA-1000 project as a key driver for regional cooperation. He also urged regulatory facilitation to boost bilateral trade and suggested that Pakistani businesses use Tajikistan as a gateway to Central Asia.

ICCI Senior Vice President Tahir Ayub highlighted the importance of deep-rooted friendship, while Vice President Muhammad Irfan Chaudhry encouraged Tajik investors to visit Pakistan more often to strengthen people-to-people contacts. Other ICCI members also participated in the discussion, reaffirming the chamber’s resolve to enhance bilateral cooperation through B2B networking and joint initiatives.

The ICCI Visit reinforced the shared vision of both nations to explore new opportunities and build sustainable economic growth together.
