ISLAMABAD β The UAE has temporarily stopped issuing tourist and work visas for citizens of nine African and Asian countries. The affected countries include Uganda, Sudan, Somalia, Cameroon, Libya, Afghanistan, Yemen, Lebanon, and Bangladesh. Pakistan is not impacted by this suspension.
According to UAE immigration authorities, visa applications from these countries are on hold until further notice. Officials have not issued an official reason, but reports suggest the decision is linked to security concerns and diplomatic issues.
The UAE has previously implemented similar visa restrictions for specific nations. This latest move reflects the countryβs ongoing efforts to maintain security and regulate visa procedures effectively.
Travelers from the affected countries must now comply with stricter rules when applying for UAE visit visas. Required documents include at least Dh 3,000 (approximately 816 USD) in cash or credit to confirm planned exit, a hotel booking or a letter from relatives or friends, and a passport valid for at least six months from the travel date.
Authorities in the UAE have emphasized that these documents must be submitted during the visa application process, not at the airport. Travelers who fail to provide the required documentation may be denied boarding or face detention upon arrival.
The UAE remains a major destination for tourists and workers from around the world. Officials say these measures are intended to prevent misuse of visas while ensuring that entry procedures are properly followed.
Diplomatic observers note that the UAEβs temporary visa suspension may have broader implications for affected countries, potentially impacting travel and business relations. Meanwhile, travelers from non-affected countries, including Pakistan, can continue applying for UAE visas under standard procedures.
The suspension highlights the UAEβs proactive approach to security and immigration, reinforcing the importance of compliance with established entry requirements. Travelers are advised to stay updated on UAE visa policies before planning their trips.
