Ishaq Dar Calls on OIC, UN to Step Up Support for Palestine and Muslim World

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to the Palestinian cause during the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) session and an international conference co-hosted by Saudi Arabia and France in New York.

Teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Highlighted

While addressing the OIC meeting, Ishaq Dar paid tribute to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), stressing peace, justice, mercy, and tolerance. He noted that historic examples such as the Covenant of Medina, the Treaty of Hudaibiyah, and the Conquest of Makkah serve as guiding principles for international law and interfaith harmony.

He warned that ongoing injustices, including Israeli actions in Palestine, the situation in Kashmir, and growing Islamophobia, are threats to global peace. Dar urged the OIC to intensify efforts to safeguard the rights of the Muslim Ummah and called for transforming the Prophet’s (PBUH) message of compassion into concrete policies.

International Conference on Palestine

Later, Dar attended the International Conference on the Implementation of a Peaceful Resolution of the Palestinian Issue, jointly hosted by Saudi Arabia and France. The forum reviewed ways to strengthen the two-state solution and push for Palestine’s recognition globally.

Pakistan actively supported the adoption of the New York Declaration, which Dar described as a step toward lasting and just peace in the region.

Growing Global Recognition

Dar welcomed recent recognition of Palestine by countries including France, Britain, Australia, Canada, and Portugal. He urged all remaining nations to follow international law and recognize Palestine as a sovereign state.

He also emphasized the urgent need to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, condemning Israeli aggression and calling for a permanent ceasefire and full humanitarian access.

Pakistan’s Consistent Stance

Pakistan was among the first nations to recognize Palestine in 1988. The Foreign Office reaffirmed that Pakistan continues to advocate for Palestine’s full membership at the United Nations and supports an independent and viable Palestinian state.

Through his participation at both forums, Ishaq Dar reinforced Pakistan’s solidarity with the Palestinian people and its call for immediate international action toward peace and justice.
