DUBAI – Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed continues to impress in the United Arab Emirates, rising further in the ICC Men’s T20I Bowling Rankings.
After an 11-spot jump last week, Abrar Ahmed has made another leap of 12 places, reaching the No. 4 position with 703 rating points. He is now very close to the top spot.
Abrar showcased his talent during Pakistan’s group stage match against the UAE, taking two wickets for just 13 runs. Although he had a less successful outing against India, finishing with 1/42, he quickly bounced back. In the match against Sri Lanka, Abrar claimed 1/8, helping Pakistan secure a crucial victory and revive their Asia Cup campaign.
The 25-year-old leg-spinner faces tough competition for the No. 1 spot, with India’s Varun Chakravarthy maintaining strong form in UAE conditions. Despite going wicketless against Pakistan, Chakravarthy bowled economically, conceding only 25 runs, which added 14 rating points to his tally.
Pakistan’s fast bowler, Haris Rauf, also improved his standing, climbing nine places to No. 28. In the batting rankings, India’s Abhishek Sharma retains the top position after crucial innings against Oman and Pakistan. His teammate Tilak Varma rose to No. 3 following a quick 30* off 19 balls.
Other Pakistani players also made notable gains. Sahibzada Farhan jumped 31 spots to No. 24 after scoring 58 against India. Hussain Talat entered the rankings at No. 234 after his vital knock against Sri Lanka. All-rounder Faheem Ashraf moved up 12 places to No. 39 in the ICC T20I All-rounder Rankings.
Abrar Ahmed’s rise in the rankings highlights his consistency and match-winning ability. His performances continue to strengthen Pakistan’s bowling attack, making him one of the most impactful players in the ongoing Asia Cup.
With steady form and key contributions, Abrar Ahmed is now among the top T20I bowlers globally, keeping Pakistan in strong contention for the title.
