DUBAI β The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued its verdict on cases involving Pakistanβs Haris Rauf, Sahibzada Farhan, and Indiaβs captain Suryakumar Yadav.
According to Indian media, the ICC fined Haris Rauf 30% of his match fee for misconduct. Sahibzada Farhan received an official warning, while Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav was also fined 30% of his match fee.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had earlier filed a complaint against Suryakumar Yadav for making a political statement during the Asia Cup. In response, the ICC summoned him to Dubai. Match referee Richie Richardson reviewed the case, fined the Indian captain, and advised him to avoid political remarks in the future.
On Friday, both Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan appeared before the ICC after a complaint filed by the Indian board. The case was related to their on-field gestures during the Asia Cup match against India.
Farhan celebrated his half-century by mimicking gunfire with his bat. Haris Rauf reacted to Indian fansβ taunts by making a plane-crash gesture after taking a wicket near the boundary.
Although India won the match, the celebrations drew criticism from the BCCI and Indian fans. The Indian board formally complained to the ICC, leading to disciplinary action against the two Pakistani players.
The ICCβs decision highlights its strict stance on maintaining discipline and avoiding political or sensitive gestures during international matches. The governing body has repeatedly urged players to focus on the spirit of the game and avoid actions that may provoke controversy.
With this ruling, the ICC has closed the chapter on the recent complaints, but the incident has sparked debate among cricket fans about the line between passion and misconduct. Supporters argue that players often celebrate emotionally, while critics believe stricter codes of conduct are necessary.
