LAHORE: Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chadhar has come under renewed public attention after actress Aruba Mirza shared what she claimed were direct messages from the lawmaker on Instagram. The latest development has added to the ongoing controversy involving allegations made by several actresses.
Aruba Mirza posted a screenshot on her Instagram Stories, claiming it showed a conversation from her Instagram inbox with Saqib Chadhar. Although the exchange appeared brief, the actress suggested that she was among several women who had allegedly received unsolicited messages from the Punjab lawmaker.
Alongside the screenshot, Aruba wrote that she, actress Momina Iqbal, and actress Syeda Tooba had all experienced similar situations. Her post described the incident as a reflection of what she called the reality of the country’s ruling class.
The latest claim comes only days after actress Momina Iqbal publicly accused Saqib Chadhar of harassment and intimidation. The allegations sparked widespread discussion on social media and led to legal proceedings.
According to officials involved in the investigation, the inquiry officer found the Punjab MPA responsible during the initial investigation. Authorities also confirmed that Chadhar’s wife, Sumaira, submitted her mobile phone to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) for forensic examination.
The forensic review is currently underway as investigators continue examining the available digital evidence. Officials have not yet released the final findings of the examination.
Meanwhile, Momina Iqbal’s legal team has requested the court to cancel the interim bail granted to Saqib Chadhar. Her lawyers argued that his release could pose a risk to the actress while the case remains under investigation.
During the latest court proceedings, the judge directed both parties to present their final arguments at the next hearing. The court also extended the interim bail of Saqib Chadhar and his wife until September 3.
