Pakistan’s Export of Footwear Rises 10.95% In July-August

The export of footwear from Pakistan recorded strong growth in the first two months of the current financial year 2025-26. According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), footwear exports grew by 10.95 percent compared to the same period last year.

During July-August 2025-26, the country earned $33.602 million from the export of footwear. This was higher than the $30.285 million achieved during July-August 2024-25. Analysts noted that this growth highlights the industry’s potential despite global trade challenges.

Within the sector, leather footwear remained the main driver of growth. Its exports increased by 11.06 percent, reaching $27.267 million compared to $24.551 million last year. However, canvas footwear showed a decline of 2.40 percent, falling from $0.441 million to $0.430 million. Exports of all other footwear categories rose by 11.57 percent, hitting $5.905 million against $5.293 million in the same months of the previous year.

On a year-on-year basis, the export of footwear fell in August 2025. Exports dropped by 13.40 percent to $16.014 million compared to $18.492 million in August 2024. Both leather and canvas footwear categories recorded sharp decreases of 17.07 percent and 72.07 percent respectively. In contrast, all other footwear exports posted a 9.95 percent rise.

Month-on-month data also showed a downward trend. Footwear exports in August 2025 fell by 8.95 percent compared to July 2025, declining from $17.588 million to $16.014 million. Leather and canvas footwear exports fell by 15.07 percent and 77.79 percent, respectively. However, exports of all other footwear products increased by 36.97 percent.

Experts believe the export of footwear can continue to grow if manufacturers focus on product diversification and competitive pricing. They emphasized that stronger branding and international partnerships could further enhance Pakistan’s presence in global footwear markets.
