An Egyptian wrestler has amazed spectators in Hurghada after performing an extraordinary feat of strength. Ashraf Mahrous, widely known as Qabunga or Strongman, pulled a 700-ton ship with his teeth in the Red Sea resort on Saturday.
The 44-year-old strongman did not stop there. He went on to tow two additional ships at once, raising the combined weight to nearly 1,150 tons. Mahrous confirmed that he plans to submit this achievement to Guinness World Records, aiming to break the current record set in 2018 for pulling a 614-ton ship.
This is not the first time the Egyptian wrestler has showcased his strength on a global stage. Earlier in March, Mahrous pulled a 279-ton train with his teeth across a 10-meter distance. That performance earned him a Guinness certificate for moving the heaviest rail vehicle.
Over the years, he has also been honored for towing a 15,730-kilogram truck, pulling the heaviest locomotive, and completing the fastest 100-meter road vehicle bridge challenge.
Standing 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 155 kilograms, Mahrous maintains a demanding lifestyle. He trains for nearly six hours daily, often splitting his workouts into two sessions. Unlike many professional athletes, he does not rely on supplements. Instead, he follows a diet rich in protein and iron, including eggs, chicken, and fish.
The Egyptian wrestler believes his power comes from both body and mind. He explains that the key to his success is forming a mental connection with the object he pulls, aligning it with his heartbeat for better synchronization.
With his latest performance, Mahrous continues to inspire awe and raise the bar for strength records worldwide. If recognized, this achievement could place him once again in the Guinness World Records, cementing his reputation as one of the strongest men alive.
