K-Electric (KE) has urged residents to prioritise safety and follow protocol amid rains, as moderate to heavy showers broke the heatwave in the city on Tuesday. The utility company warned that waterlogging in low-lying areas could pose risks and asked citizens to remain vigilant.
KE field teams stayed on high alert to monitor local conditions and address any issues promptly. Despite the heavy downpour, the electricity network remained largely stable. Out of more than 2,100 feeders, less than 175 experienced temporary outages, mainly triggered by safety precautions. These feeders were quickly restored once rain subsided and safety clearances were received from KEโs field teams.
โOur foremost priority remains the safety of the public and our staff,โ said Imran Rana, KE spokesperson. โWhile our systems have remained stable, we strongly advise citizens to follow safety protocol amid rains to avoid accidents or disruptions.โ
KE also reminded residents to avoid touching fallen wires, remain away from flooded areas, and report any electrical hazards immediately. The utility company emphasised that adherence to the protocol amid rains is essential to safeguard lives and prevent damage to property.
Authorities highlighted that timely response by KEโs teams helped prevent widespread outages, and continuous monitoring ensured that restoration efforts were swift. KE also advised the public to stay updated with weather alerts and official announcements.
The utility company reiterated that it is fully prepared to tackle any emergencies caused by unexpected rainfall and waterlogging. Citizens are encouraged to cooperate with field teams and follow instructions to ensure personal safety during heavy rain spells.
By following these guidelines, KE aims to minimise risks and maintain uninterrupted power supply, even under challenging weather conditions.
