The Punjab govt has approved Rs2 billion for the Counter Terrorism Department (CCD) to improve security measures across sensitive districts. The funds will be used for purchasing modern vehicles and constructing new offices and police stations.
According to officials, the first phase of the plan includes buying bulletproof and double-cabin vehicles, armored carriers, and high-roof vans. These vehicles will be deployed in sensitive districts to strengthen law enforcement capabilities.
In the second phase, similar vehicles will be supplied to βB categoryβ districts. Authorities said more budget allocations are expected to meet the departmentβs needs in the coming months.
Offices and Police Stations Planned
Along with vehicle procurement, the Punjab govt has started the process for new CCD offices and police stations. A survey is underway to identify suitable sites, with reports being prepared for Lahore, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, and Multan.
According to sources, CCD has requested 40 offices, 38 police stations, and six residential buildings. Police officials estimate that the construction of these facilities will cost around Rs11 billion.
The initiative is part of a broader plan to improve counterterrorism operations in the province. By equipping CCD with modern vehicles and infrastructure, the government aims to enhance security and ensure better response in high-risk areas.
Officials emphasized that the funding reflects a long-term commitment to strengthening law enforcement. The Punjab govt believes that upgrading CCDβs resources will help curb terrorism and improve public safety across the province.
This latest move highlights the growing focus on modernizing police forces to deal with evolving security threats. With increased investment, CCD is expected to play a stronger role in safeguarding sensitive regions.
