Anoush Masood, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Lahore, has raised the alarm over the rise in child sexual abuse in Punjab. Masood noted that the bulk of these situations involve youngsters who are free to leave their parents.
A notable psychologist, Professor Dr. Saima Dawood, praised the good impact of increased awareness, which resulted in more child abuse instances being reported to the police. Dr. Dawood emphasized the importance of protecting both boys and girls from abuse, highlighting their vulnerability.

According to a recent Punjab Home Department data, boys are victimized by sexual assault at a larger rate than girls, accounting for 69 percent of abuse victims compared to 31 percent for girls. The research also stated that many impacted families do not record instances owing to fear and humiliation, adding an unpleasant dimension to the problem.
These findings highlight the critical need for immediate action to safeguard children from sexual abuse. Families and communities must get together to face this issue straight on.
