A businessman was critically injured during resistance to robbery in Thatha when armed men snatched Rs 1.8 million, local media reported on Sunday.
The incident occurred near Ojri mosque, where the robbers targeted trader Ghazanfar Badani. When he offered resistance, the suspects opened fire, injuring him and damaging his vehicle.
Following the incident, rescue teams shifted the wounded trader to Civil Hospital Thatha for treatment. His condition was reported as critical by doctors.
The Tajir Ittehad strongly condemned the attack and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits. Business leaders also urged authorities to take strict measures to improve law and order in the area.
This case of resistance to robbery in Thatha comes amid growing concerns over rising crime in Sindh. Just a day earlier, a shopkeeper in Karachiβs Orangi Town, Noor Alam, was killed while resisting robbers. He managed to snatch a weapon and fire at the suspects, killing one of them. However, he later lost his life in the exchange of fire.
Police revealed that the deceased robber in Karachi had a long criminal record, including cases of murder and theft. Noor Alam, who was recently married and known as a hafiz-e-Quran, had already faced two robbery incidents at his shop in the past.
Meanwhile, separate firing incidents were reported in other parts of Karachi, including Landhi and New Karachi, leaving more casualties.
The recurring pattern of citizens being harmed during resistance to robbery in Thatha and other areas has raised alarm among communities. Citizens continue to demand stronger policing and effective crackdowns against criminal gangs.
Authorities have said investigations are ongoing, while pressure mounts on law enforcement to curb such violent crimes and restore public safety.
