In a recent interview, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan opened up about his ex-wife Amrita Singh, describing her as a major influence in his early years. Speaking on Twinkle Khanna and Kajol’s talk show Too Much With Kajol & Twinkle, Saif candidly discussed how Amrita helped him understand the complexities of the film industry when he was just starting out.
Saif Ali Khan, who married Amrita Singh at the young age of 21, said that despite their marriage not lasting, her contribution to his personal and professional growth was significant. “It’s a pity things didn’t work out, but apart from having two wonderful children, Amrita’s influence was invaluable,” Saif shared.
He further added, “She helped me understand the film world and guided me through some really important years. I don’t think I’ve ever acknowledged enough how much she helped me at that stage of my life.”
During the conversation, Kajol playfully remarked, “But she brought you up well,” to which Saif Ali Khan smiled and agreed. “There were some really important and learning years, and like I said, she’s a wonderful mom,” he said, praising Amrita Singh’s role as a mother to their children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan.
Saif also noted that he and Amrita share a cordial relationship today. “I think my ex-wife and I get along well enough. We usually speak about important things—mostly when I’m in a hospital bed,” he joked, adding that such moments often bring them into casual, friendly contact.
