17-Year-Old Girl Commits Suicide After Failing Intermediate Exams in Hafizabad

HAFIZABAD – A heartbreaking incident occurred in Punjab’s Hafizabad city where a 17-year-old girl commits suicide after failing her Intermediate Part-1 exams. The tragic event took place a day after the results were officially announced on October 15.

According to police reports, the girl, identified as Tayyiba, consumed acid in extreme distress over her exam failure. She was immediately taken to the trauma center, but despite doctors’ efforts, she passed away during treatment.

Her father revealed that Tayyiba had been deeply upset after learning that she had not passed the exams. The emotional strain and academic pressure reportedly drove her to make this devastating decision.

This tragic case has once again highlighted the growing mental health challenges among students in Pakistan. Many young individuals face intense societal and academic expectations, leaving them vulnerable to depression, anxiety, and self-harm when they fall short of those expectations.

In a similar case earlier this week, another student commits suicide in the Ghandigar Pain area of Upper Dir. The victim, a 15-year-old girl named Anmol, ended her life after feeling disappointed by her Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exam results.

Despite scoring an impressive 1010 out of 1200 marks, Anmol was reportedly dissatisfied with her performance. Overwhelmed by emotional pressure, she shot herself. She was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

These back-to-back incidents serve as a grim reminder of the urgent need for mental health awareness, counseling services, and family support systems for students. Experts emphasize that parents and educators must communicate openly with children about academic expectations and mental well-being.

Authorities have urged families to stay vigilant and seek timely help for students showing signs of emotional distress before it leads to another tragic case where someone commits suicide.
