Pakistani-Owned Tech Startup Sold In Massive $1.7 Billion Deal

Securiti AI, founded by Pakistani entrepreneur Rehan Jalil, has been acquired by data-resilience company Veeam for approximately $1.7 billion. The deal represents one of the largest exits by a Pakistani founder in the global tech industry.

Securiti AI provides tools that help businesses discover, secure, and manage data across cloud platforms and SaaS applications. Its flagship product, the Data Command Center, is widely used for data governance, privacy, and security in AI systems. Veeam said the addition of Securiti’s tools will enhance its ability to safeguard business data, especially as more companies adopt artificial intelligence technologies.

As part of the agreement, Securiti’s founder and CEO, Rehan Jalil, will become Veeam’s President of Security and AI once the deal is finalized. The transaction, which includes both cash and stock, is expected to close later this year pending regulatory approvals.

Experts say the acquisition highlights the growing demand for data protection and governance solutions as organizations embrace AI-driven operations. It also marks a proud moment for Pakistan’s tech ecosystem, reflecting the international success of its entrepreneurs. Jalil, who has a background in cloud security, founded Securiti AI to help companies ensure responsible and compliant use of data in the AI era.

Veeam confirmed that it plans to continue offering Securiti’s products while integrating its AI-trust, governance, and privacy features into Veeam’s existing backup and recovery systems. The combined solutions aim to accelerate safe AI adoption while keeping sensitive data secure and recoverable.

The acquisition has also drawn praise from Afghan and South Asian tech circles, where innovators see Jalil’s success as an inspiration for regional entrepreneurs. Many believe that achievements like these can open new opportunities for Pakistani and Afghan professionals in the global technology landscape.
