The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is officially expanding, with two new teams set to join in Season 11. While the news has been widely anticipated, PSL management has now confirmed key details about how the new franchises will be introduced.
PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer announced that the owners of the new teams will be selected through an open auction. This means that the highest bidders will win ownership of the two available franchises in Pakistan’s leading T20 cricket league.
However, the PSL itself will decide which cities the new teams represent. While franchise owners will be free to build their team identity, branding, and player rosters, the league will assign them to officially approved host cities.
Although Salman Naseer did not confirm which cities are under consideration, sources within cricketing circles suggest AJK, Sialkot, Hyderabad, and Faisalabad as likely candidates. These cities have strong cricketing traditions and passionate fanbases, making them ideal options for league expansion.
“An auction will be held for two new PSL franchises. Interested investors will be given a choice of city names to select from for their team,” Naseer explained.
The inclusion of two new franchises marks a major milestone in the PSL’s growth strategy. The expansion aims to attract fresh investment, create new fan communities, and offer more opportunities for emerging cricket talent across Pakistan.
Industry experts believe this move will increase competition, boost regional representation, and enhance the league’s overall commercial appeal. With more cities likely to join the PSL fold, Season 11 could redefine the future of Pakistan’s premier T20 tournament.
Further details about the auction process, franchise costs, and team announcements are expected in the coming months.
