Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has been handed a two-match suspension by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for violating the ICC Code of Conduct during the ongoing T20I series against South Africa.
According to the ICC statement, the decision followed an incident during the second T20I match, where Haris was found guilty of using inappropriate language and displaying aggressive behavior towards a player after dismissing him. The match officials charged him under Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which deals with actions contrary to the spirit of the game.
Haris Rauf admitted to the offence and accepted the sanctions proposed by the ICC match referee, eliminating the need for a formal hearing. Along with the suspension, two demerit points have been added to his disciplinary record.
This is not the first time Haris has faced disciplinary action. The pacer has previously been warned for on-field aggression, though this marks his first suspension in international cricket. His fiery pace and passionate celebrations have often drawn attention, but the ICC stressed the importance of maintaining professionalism and respect on the field.
As a result, Haris Rauf will miss Pakistan’s upcoming T20I matches against South Africa. Team management has yet to name a replacement, but sources suggest that Zaman Khan or Hasan Ali could be drafted into the playing XI.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that it respects the ICC’s decision and reminded players to adhere strictly to the code of conduct to uphold the spirit of the game.
