Pakistan’s snooker player Shahid Aftab continued his outstanding performance at the World Snooker Championship, advancing to the second stage after defeating India’s Paras Gupta in an intense match.
Aftab claimed a 4–2 victory in the Round of 16, showcasing remarkable composure and skill throughout the game. The frame scores were 25-73, 94-27, 36-77, 76-58, 6-122, and 49-60. His two outstanding breaks of 72 and 62 reflected his exceptional cue control and focus, helping him maintain momentum against a strong opponent.
The World Snooker Championship, currently taking place in Doha, Qatar, has drawn top talent from across the globe. Aftab’s consistent form and tactical play have made him one of the standout performers for Pakistan in the tournament.
In contrast, fellow Pakistani player Mohammad Sajjad, who entered directly in the Round of 32, was unable to progress. He faced a tough challenge from Fong Ko Wic Wai of Hong Kong and lost 4–2 in a closely contested encounter. The frame scores were 68-33, 20-81, 6-82, 76-32, 15-68, and 57-75. Despite showing flashes of brilliance, Sajjad couldn’t capitalize on key opportunities.
With Sajjad’s early exit, Shahid Aftab now carries Pakistan’s hopes forward in the World Snooker Championship. His determination and form suggest he could make a deep run in the competition, bringing pride to the national snooker community.
