Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza met with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, during his official visit to the country, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.
According to the ISPR, both sides discussed the regional and global security situation and agreed to enhance defence cooperation between Pakistan and Brunei. The CJCSC reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong ties with Brunei and expressed the country’s desire to further deepen military-to-military collaboration and strategic engagement.
During the visit, General Mirza also held meetings with Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence-II, and Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
The discussions focused on expanding avenues of defence cooperation, training exchanges, and joint initiatives for regional stability. Both sides emphasized the importance of working together to strengthen peace and security in the Asia-Pacific region.
As part of his visit, the CJCSC also toured KDB DARULAMAN at Muara Naval Base and the Defence Academy of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. He delivered a lecture on “Pakistan’s Contributions to Regional Peace and Stability” and interacted with students from the Command and Staff Course, which included officers from 19 foreign countries.
The Sultan and Brunei’s military leadership praised the professionalism and contributions of the Pakistan Armed Forces, particularly their achievements and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
Upon arrival at the Headquarters of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, General Mirza was presented with a Guard of Honour by a well-turned-out contingent.
The visit marked another step toward deepening defence cooperation between the two friendly nations, reflecting shared goals of promoting peace, security, and mutual understanding.
