Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized Pakistan and Iranβs shared resolve to promote peace and strengthen unity among Muslim nations. Speaking during a meeting with Dr Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, the Prime Minister said both countries continue to reaffirm commitment to dialogue, diplomacy, and cooperation for global harmony.
Welcoming the Iranian delegation, Shehbaz Sharif described Iran as a brotherly Muslim nation with deep historical, cultural, and religious connections with Pakistan. He said both sides stand united in their desire for regional stability and prosperity. The Prime Minister reiterated that Pakistan and Iran firmly reject terrorism in all its forms and remain committed to peaceful coexistence.
Shehbaz Sharif expressed respect for Iranβs Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pazeshkian. He noted that both countries have suffered from terrorism but have stood by each other against any threat to sovereignty. The meeting, held in Islamabad, highlighted the mutual desire to enhance cooperation in economic, trade, and development sectors.
Dr Ghalibaf, on behalf of the Iranian government, thanked Pakistan for its steadfast support during the recent Iran-Israel conflict. He said Iran deeply values Pakistanβs solidarity and friendship, which reflect their shared belief in Muslim unity. He also extended warm greetings from President Masoud Pazeshkian to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the people of Pakistan.
The Iranian Speaker praised Pakistanβs efforts to promote parliamentary collaboration, particularly through the initiatives of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. Dr Ghalibaf reaffirmed Iranβs commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, emphasizing the importance of long-term partnership.
Both leaders agreed to continue working closely for regional peace and economic progress. Their discussions once again reaffirm commitment to the principles of mutual respect, unity, and cooperation that define Pakistan-Iran relations.
