Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has clarified that its Lahore to Jeddah flight made an unscheduled landing in Karachi early Thursday morning purely as a safety precaution. The airline emphasized that the decision was taken after the pilot noticed cracks in the aircraftβs windshield during the flight.
According to a PIA spokesperson, the pilot observed the cracks at an altitude of around 34,000 feet. The damage was likely caused by wind shear, a sudden change in wind direction or speed. The spokesperson stated that the situation was handled with complete professionalism and care, following all standard aviation safety procedures.
The airline confirmed that there was no bird strike involved and no emergency was declared at any point. The aircraft landed safely at Karachiβs Jinnah International Airport at 7:06 a.m. All passengers and crew members remained safe throughout the flight.
Passenger Safety Prioritized
PIA reassured that passenger safety was never compromised. The pilotβs prompt action was in line with international safety standards, the spokesperson added. After landing, the aircraft was parked for a detailed technical inspection to assess the extent of the damage.
Arrangements were immediately made for passengers to continue their journey to Jeddah. The airline thanked travelers for their patience and cooperation during the delay.
PIA Denies Emergency Landing Claims
The clarification came after social media reports suggested that the aircraft had made an emergency landing. PIA strongly denied those claims, explaining that it was a precautionary landing to ensure safety and prevent any potential risk during flight.
The airline reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards and ensuring that every flight operates with full caution and responsibility.
